About the work
Jungle Chair treats landscape as density rather than view. Fabric, paint, vinyl and sculptural additions move across the repaired chair form. The surface builds by accumulation, with each layer changing how the next one is read. The finished work holds the pressure of growth, enclosure and colour, and is held in a private collection.
Origin & Transformation
The chair was commissioned by its eventual owner and arrived in the studio structurally unstable. Before any surface work could begin, it required structural repairs and reconditioning. The seat was re-upholstered. Paint, collage, and sculptural additions were then applied in sequence across the frame and seat surface.
